Ellwood Thompson’s seeks organic farmer

Ellwood Thompson’s seeks organic farmer…

Ellwood Thompson’s is seeking an independent organic farmer to partner with an innovative, collaborative farm venture in Hanover County, just 25 minutes north of Richmond. The farming business would be an independent operation, wholly separate from Ellwood Thompson’s, but would actively collaborate with and have access to select Ellwood Thompson’s resources.

The farm-partner would sub-lease from Ellwood Thompson’s for produce, flower, grain and pasture or orchard production. The farm model should emphasize healthy land rotations and practical economies of scale that ideally result in a profitable, full-income and economically viable farm.

The property has a 3 bedroom, 2-bath farmhouse with 3 farm buildings that come with the lease. Ability to build a farm stand and install signage at road entry directly on busy Rt. 301. The soil is excellent with two well-known “better than organic” farmers, and is now eligible for organic certification following a three-year rest from farming.
