COVID-19 Farm impacts & work-arounds
COVID-19 and the resulting closures have created considerable roadblocks to getting farm-fresh foods to the people who need and need them. Farmer's markets are closed. Restaurants are closed or operating on extremely reduced produce requirements. Upstream and down, channels are blocked. Stories are coming across news feeds about thousands of animals by "euthanized" instead of going to market and tons of produce being turned into the fields. There's a huge disconnect now between the farmer's products and the consumer who needs them. Some farmers have succeeded in making new connections and changing their business model. What can you share with other farmers to help them navigate this new world order?

Farmer’s Market COVID impacts
Farmer's markets were declared "closed" by the Governor in May. Since then, VDACS has provided additional guidance via webinars and emails to Market Managers.The information provided by various state offices is conflicting and confusing and many markets remain closed, due in large part, to this confusion. Meanwhile, some Market Managers have made effective transitions. This forum is for discussions on what is currently working for Markets, and what may not be working. Sharing ideas and lessons learned helps everyone!
