FARMER programs –
  • Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) – especially needs grassroots outreach help!
  • Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP)
ORGANIZATIONAL programs – 
  • Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program (BFRDP, part of FOTO)
  • Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program (SARE)
  • Organic Transitions Program (ORG)
  • Organic Agriculture Research and Extension Initiative (OREI)
  • Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP) (note: has individual landowner opportunity as well)

Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP)
Sign-up is open for farmers and ranchers to begin the CSP application process! NOTE: This is a quicker than usual turnaround for farmers to sign up!
Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP)
  • Deadline – Unlike with CSP, EQIP signup dates vary from state to state. Most states have opened their initial EQIP signup periods, and have to give at least 30 days notice before a deadline.
  • NSAC EQIP Grassroots Guide
  • In development – additional guidance and materials on the EQIP Advance Payment option – a 2018 Farm Bill win – to help growers understand new options available to them.
Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program (BFRDP, part of FOTO)
  • Deadline – May 16, 2019 and February 13, 2020
  • NOTE – NIFA has released BOTH the FY19 and FY20 RFAs at the same time – hence 2 different deadlines.

Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program (SARE)
  • Deadline – varies by region
  • NOTE – different SARE programs have open applications at different times; right now some regions have opened Graduate Student Program, Research and Education Program, Partnership Grant Program, and Professional Development Program application windows. No regions currently have farmer grant program applications open.

Organic Transitions Program (ORG)
  • Deadline – May 16, 2019 and February 27, 2020
  • NOTE – NIFA has released BOTH the FY19 and FY20 RFAs at the same time – hence 2 different deadlines.

Organic Agriculture Research and Extension Initiative (OREI)
  • Deadline – May 2, 2019 and January 23, 2020
  • NOTE – NIFA has released BOTH the FY19 and FY20 RFAs at the same time – hence 2 different deadlines.

Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP) 
  • Deadline – varies by state; contact state or local NRCS offices to determine your state’s deadline (available for ag land protection and wetland protection/ restoration)
  • NOTE – ACEP is open to both organizations and individual landowners (including farmers and ranchers)
