Virginia Farm to School 2018 Survey of Producers

Please complete this survey if you are one of the primary owners or managers of a farm or ranch in Virginia. The survey asks for basic information about your farm, farm to school activities, and your unique perspectives on the farm to school program. The 2018 Farm to School survey is academic research through Virginia Tech, is confidential, and will take roughly ten minutes.

This survey will help to develop and expand the growing Virginia Farm to School Network, and help improve opportunities for farmers to market their products to schools and similar institutions. Your answers are very important in determining how Farm to School initiatives will be structured in Virginia. This survey is part of a larger USDA Farm to School Grant to evaluate and develop Farm to School opportunities within Virginia, and is sponsored by Virginia Tech, Virginia Department of Ag and Consumer Services, and the Virginia Department of Education.

Your participation in this survey is completely voluntary, and you are under no obligation to answer any question, for any reason. Your survey is completely confidential, and no identifying characteristics will be used in any way for this survey, except county name where your farm is located. Your IP address will be collected, but seen only by researchers to ensure geographic spread of survey response, which will destroyed after a period of six months. There are no known risks to participating in this study, and the benefits include developing more targeted support to help you meet your business goals for developing new and existing institutional markets for your products. This is a self-administered survey, and completion of the survey constitutes informed consent.
