About The Farm
Sankofa Community Orchard is more than just a place to grow food; it’s a living, breathing, five (5) acre green space where community members come together to cultivate healing, connection to the earth, and food sovereignty. SCO is dedicated to food justice and climate resiliency and uses biological, regenerative farming practices to produce nutrient dense vegetables, fruits, & herbs. Rooted in the Sankofa principle — “go back and get it”— the orchard honors ancestral agricultural wisdom while building a thriving, resilient food system for families in the Richmond and surrounding area. Here, the trees aren’t just producing nourishing fruit; they’re producing a sense of belonging, knowledge and healthy green spaces for generations to come.
