On February 14, the USDA announced some $133 million in funding for Local Agriculture Markets Program (LAMP) projects, including Farmers Market Promotion Program, Local Food Promotion Program, and Regional Food Systems Partnerships.  I apologize for not getting this notice to you in the February newsletter … fortunately, the deadline for applications is May 2, so there is still time for your group or organization to develop a good proposal.  See the NSAC blog on LAMP for details including how to apply.

 

Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) Funding Available

 

Funding through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) has allowed the USDA to expand support for the REAP program, which supports energy efficiency and renewable energy projects.  This year’s Notice of funding Availability includes over $1 billion with a priority on under-utilized technologies with zero GHG emissions. Virginia USDA NRCS Conservation Innovation Grants (CIG)
Virginia NRCS has $400,000 available through CIG State Program funding to stimulate the development and adoption of innovation conservation approaches and technologies with an emphasis on soil health and forestry. Proposals are due May 29th, 2023.
USDA Composting and Food Waste Reduction Funding Opportunity
USDA’s Office of Urban Agriculture and Innovative Production is soliciting proposals to host a composting and food waste reduction (CFWR) pilot project. Proposals are due June 15th, 2023.
